William is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sallianne Farner Bechtel; a son William Bechtel Jr. and his wife April of South Carolina; a daughter Amy Bechtel Bowers (Matthew) of Annville; and a grandson Emmett Bowers. He also is survived by two brothers Russell Bechtel and Floyd Bechtel (Bonnie), both of Dauphin; his sister Susan Bechtel Stewart (John) of Ephrata; his mother-in-law Marie Farner of Halifax; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held March 21 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial was in St. Peter’s (Fetterhoff’s) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Halifax Ambulance Association, 225 Bunker Hill Rd., Halifax, PA 17032 or the Fisherville Fire Co., P.O. Box 625, Halifax, PA 17032.
