Dauphin County’s community transmission level has worsened to Substantia
On the eve of a new school year and less than a month until Labor Day marks the unofficial end of Summer, this is the ‘‘situation on the ground’’ regarding COVID-19, both in the Sentinel area, statewide and nationwide, as of this week’s press time. Rising Numbers Locally. In the three-county Sentinel area (Dauphin, Northumberland and Schuylkill), positive cases within local zip codes saw its highest increase in recent weeks; there were 15 new cases as of the period ending Aug. 6. • Dauphin County’s community transmission level has worsened to Substantial, compared with Moderate the previous period. Northumberland and Schuylkill remain Moderate. (The four transmission levels are Low, Moderate, Substantial and High.) • Dauphin’s new case numbers increased by more than 170 compared with 29 for Northumberland and 63 in Schuylkill. COVID-related fatalities increased by two in Dauphin; there were no increases in Northumberland or Schuylkill. Rising Numbers Statewide.
