William F. Shaffer
HERNDON • William F. Shaffer, 95, of Herndon, Jordan Twp., died on Sunday, April 5 at his residence.
He was born in Trevorton Dec. 11, 1924, a son of the late Sarah and George Shaffer.
He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was employed as a brick mason until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Urban and the Bricklayer’s Union Local No. 5.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Shaffer; daughter, Sandra Strohecker; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Shaffer of Millersburg; sister, Anna Mae Mentzer of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, George and Norman Shaffer and an infant brother; sister, Margaret Baumert; half-siblings Myrlie Grimm, John and Felix Shaffer and Sara Shaffer-Latsha.
As per his request, there will be no services. Interment will take place in the Union Cemetery, Pillow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
