TOWER CITY • William D. “Butch” Hostetter, 76, died Feb. 18 at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1942, in Farner, Tenn., a son of the late William and Sophia Hostetter. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Local Union 147, working in tunnel construction for more than 40 years in New York City, fondly known as “Sandhogs.” He was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nary Workman Hostetter; four children: Montey Hostetter of Gardiner, N.Y.; Martin Hostetter of Ft. Gay, W.Va.; Tammy Shockley of Waynesboro; and Tonya Shockley of Tower City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joann and Kathy. Memorial services will be held held Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the chapel.
