DALMATIA • William “Bill” Calvin Martz, born Dec. 9, 1924, peacefully went to his heavenly home while surrounded by his loving family on the 19th day of November 2019, at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg, Pa. Bill was the son of William A. Martz and Stella Witmer Martz, who preceded him in death. Bill was also preceded in death by his siblings Monroe Martz, Stewart Martz, Erma Martz and Elda Martz; his first wife of 33 years, Marion Dangler Martz; stepson Millard “Bunk” Smith; and Bummie, Brownie, Jersey, Faye, Momma Burf, Coco x2, and Miss Kitty, just to name a few of his rainbow bridge crossers. Bill leaves behind his devoted wife of 34 years, Rosina C. Tyre-Quillen Martz (Dillsburg, Pa.); three children William L. Martz (Northport, Fla.), Patti Lou Martz Bakerman (Belgium), and Dennis G. Martz (Dalmatia, Pa.); three stepchildren Neal C. Smith (Landisburg, Pa.), C. Darlene Wagner (Dillsburg, Pa.), and Janice A. Bolze (York Springs, Pa.); seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill loved farming, working in the herb garden, his large family, his many friends, his church, bowling, and dogs. He was an incredibly kind and gentle man; soft spoken with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren on wheat rides, decorating the barn at Christmastime, going to church, and the 4th of July celebrations in the picnic woods. He will be missed by so many, but memories of him will be sure to live on. Services were held Nov. 23, 2019, at St. Luke’s Church in the village of Malta, Pa. Burial was in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital or your favorite animal rescue. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd. in Millersburg is handling the arrangements. To sign the online guestbook, visit minnichfuneral.com
