GRATZ • W. Blair Norris, 86, formerly of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, March 6 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, after battling leukemia. Born Nov. 29, 1934, he was the son of the late David E. and Mary (Haynes) Norris of Huntington. He was a 1955 graduate of West York High School. He retired from Caterpillar Inc., York, where he was employed for 40 years. He also worked part time for M-L Wehler in York. In his retirement, he was a tour guide for Martin’s Potato Chips for 10 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Beissel of York and a brother David P. of Huntington. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise (Altland); a daughter Gail Gorman (John) of Lexington, N.C.; a son, David (Lori Schoffstall) of Gratz and four grandchildren: Patrick and Shaun Gorman and Andrew and Joshua Norris. Blair taught Sunday School at St. Paul’s E.C. Church in York for 25 years and served in many other capacities. He and Louise also owned a cottage at the Lykens Valley Campmeeting, Elizabethville, where he served faithfully on the board and the grounds committee for many years. Blair had a servant’s heart and was always looking for ways to help anyone in need. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons’ extracurricular activities. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 12 at David’s Community Bible Church, Millersburg, at 7 p.m. John Keffer Funeral Home of York is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David’s Community Bible Church. Paid by family
