Verna R. Moppin
BERRYSBURG • Verna R. Moppin, 84, of Berrysburg, died Oct. 27, 2020, at home. She was born April 21, 1936, in Lykens, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Batdorf) Wynn. Verna was happily married to the late Leroy Moppin for 34 years. She worked as a seamstress and later became a stay-at-home mother. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 404 Ladies Auxiliary in Elizabethville. She loved to crochet and enjoyed donating her blankets to veterans and newborn babies at the local hospitals. She is survived by her son Matthew Riegel, daughter-in-law Cindy Riegel; four stepdaughters, grandchildren Angela, Amy, Johnny, Joshua and Alyssa; five stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also is survived by sisters Vivian Keesey, Bonita Johnson and Laura Mae Long; brother Samuel Wynn, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Leroy, she was preceded in death by her sons Johnny Riegel, Sr., Wayne Riegel, Christopher Riegel, and one step-son, sister Dorothy Klinger, stepbrother Robert Deiter, and brother George Wynn. Services were held Oct. 31 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., Millersburg. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. The family requests that memorial donations be made to American Legion, 7 S.
