Tom L. Strait

Tom L. Strait, 72, passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2021, at Penn State Health-Holy Spirit Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born March 7, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Lloyd T. and Adelaide F. (Laird) Strait. He was preceded in death by a sister Florence Mace. Tom was the former owner of Harold’s Radio & TV Lab/Radio Shack in Millersburg for many years. He retired in 2013 from Alvord Polk Tool Co./Morton Machine Works. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Rife; Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Millersburg Forest No. 125 and the Harrisburg Consistory. Tom was a very kind, compassionate, loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. His greatest pride and joy was spending time with family and attending all his grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Debra E. (Cook) Strait; his daughter, Jennifer L. Zimmerman and her husband Kent of Berrysburg; a son, Brian L. Strait and his wife Melissa of Millersburg; a brother, Robert Laird and his partner Jo-Ann of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren, Cole and Dane Zimmerman and Lacy and Jana Strait. A public visitation was held Jan. 15 at Zion Lutheran Church, Rife. Burial was at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 415, Millersburg PA 17061. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home Ltd., Millersburg, handled arrangements.
