TOWER CITY • Thomas A. Lewis, 88, died Dec. 24 at his residence. He was born July 22, 1931, in Reinerton, a son of the late William Lewis and Esther Keiser Lewis Curran. He was a 1949 graduate of Porter Twp. High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired carpenter from the former J.H. Deiter and Sons, Tower City. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reinerton, where he was a Sunday school teacher, former member and secretary of the council, former member of the property committee and was active with the former madrigal dinner for many years, where he made most of the props. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leila Fredericksen. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Houtz Lewis; four children: Douglas Lewis and Deana Herb, both of Tower City, Beverly Hand of Williamstown and Craig Lewis of Millersburg; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchild-ren; and a great-great-grandson. Services were held Dec. 28 from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Tower City. Burial with military honors was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Orwin.
