It’s 25 years old and needed some work to pass inspection. To Catherine ‘‘Katie’’ Kennedy, it’s priceless.
After escaping an abusive situation last summer, the Elizabethville resident was left without transportation. For three months, she relied on others to drive her to errands – and her children to necessary doctor appointments.
That all ended last week, as Kennedy was handed the keys and title to a 1995 Lincoln Town Car, a vehicle whose purchase, insurance and inspection costs were donated by individuals, businesses and non-profits within the Sentinel area.
‘‘It says a lot about the community for this to happen,’’ she said about receiving the vehicle with no strings attached. ‘‘I am shocked, but grateful that it was even made possible.’’
Reliable transportation especially is critical for the mother of five, as her son Liam is facing health issues that require weekly visits to Penn SEE LOVE • PAGE A8
