TREMONT • Russell L. Berkheiser, 82, of Tremont, died Monday, July 5, 2021 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Born April 7, 1939, and raised on a farm in Summit Station, he was a son of the late William and Lilly Berkheiser. He was a graduate of the former Cressona High School, where he was a member and president of the Future Farmers of America. He was last employed as a crane operator at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp., Lebanon. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tremont, and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Summit Station, where he was a communion assistant and member of the choir. He was a singer in the former Blue Ridge Mountain Boys Band. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Sandra L. Schell Berkheiser; a daughter, Russann Newton of Tremont; one grandson; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Jean Griffiths of Hummelstown and Carol Boyer of Auburn; a brother, Harold Berkheiser of Summit Station; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City, with Pastor Claude Schach officiating.
