MECHANICSBURG • Rosena L. Barry, 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Feb. 9, 2019, at Country Meadows Retirement Community. She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Berrysburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles E. and Hazel B. (Smeltz) Howard. She retired from Susquehanna Lutheran Village as a hairdresser and also worked for the American Greeting Card Company. Rosena was baptized and married as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berrysburg. For many years she was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Millersburg, where she served as a teacher in the children’s department, and also a director of the junior choir. She helped in the Church’s Outreach Center and made quilts in the Sewing Circle. She served on the social ministry and staff support committees. After many years she returned her church membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Order of the Good Shepherd at SLV and served as membership chair for a number of years. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sewing and taking care of her flower gardens, and most of all helping her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Robert P. (Bob) Barry, Jr., and his wife Lisa of Harrisburg; her two daughters, Debra Barry of Mechanicsburg and Bonita Barry and her husband Lyle Bush of Silver Spring, Md.; three granddaughters: Lauren Ferrara of Mechanicsburg, Madeline Barry and her husband Jeff Molush of Philadelphia, and Bianca Bush of Silver Spring, Md.; two grandsons, Brandon Robert Barry and his wife Jennifer of Denver, Pa., and Logan Bush of Silver Spring, Md., three great-grandchildren: Elijah, Lilly and Emery; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rosena was preceded in death by her husband Robert P. Barry Sr.; and her brother, Donald L. Howard, age 2. The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 24, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (The Hill Church), 215 St. John Rd., Elizabethville, PA from 2-3 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service.
