TOWER CITY • Richard L. Harner Sr., 87, formerly of Tower City, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at UPMC Carlisle. Born Aug. 12, 1934, in Good Spring, he was a son of the late Irvin and Maude Carl Harner. Rich retired from Richmond Screw and Anchor, Tremont. He had previously worked for 13 years with the former TRW, Harrisburg, and as a school bus driver for more than 33 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reinerton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Dorothy Schaeffer Harner, Oct. 20, 2011; three brothers, Ivin, Leonard and Bruce Harner; and one sister, Bernice Harner. Surviving are his three sons, Richard L. Harner Jr., and his wife Anne of Dillsburg; Randal L. Harner and his wife Jackie of Tower City and Brad A. Harner and his wife Heather of Mount Joy; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reinerton. Viewing will be held 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, Orwin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1931 Wiconisco St., Tower City PA 17980.
