HERNDON • Richard D. “Dick” Lenker, 82, of Herndon, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland. He was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Harrisburg, Pa., a son of the late Mary (Bingaman) and Albert Lenker. Richard was married to the former Dawn A. Wilhour. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Dick was a graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School, class of 1955. After high school, he served his country by joining the U.S. Navy based in Jacksonville, Fla. Richard was a kind and compassionate man. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed assistance and always had time to chat with those who stopped by his woodworking shop. Richard was a self- employed contractor, building many homes in the Central Susquehanna Valley. He was a self-taught craftsman, very talented in creating furniture and other wood projects. Dick enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time in Potter County, where he was a member of the Mandata Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of Grace Community Church and was involved in other community organizations, Herndon Fire Co., past master of the Herndon Masonic Lodge, past director of the Gratz National Bank and Herndon National Bank. Along with his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter, Pamela Martz and husband William of Berwick; son, Christopher Lenker and wife Nina of Dalmatia; five grandchildren, Casey Lenker, Benjamin Martz, Nichole Bridi, Cody Lenker and Joshua Lenker; nine great-grandchildren, Abby and Aubrey Walter, Caydence Lenker, Chaylb Lenker, Dominick and Christian Bridi, Brylee Lenker and Mattea and Alessander Lenker; and a sister, Mary Lou Rebuck of Dornsife. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan David Martz. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
