MILLERSBURG • Ray R. Matter, 84, of Lykens, died March 2, 2021, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. He was born July 23, 1936, in Millersburg, Pa., the son of the late John D. and Dorothy A. (Kissinger) Matter. Ray was married to Joyce (Kocher) Matter. He was a 1954 graduate of Millersburg High School. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he met and married his wife Joyce to whom he was married for almost 65 years. He was a dedicated farmer and retired from Meckley’s Limestone after 25 years of service. He was a former member of Men in Harmony, where he enjoyed his love of music, but his greatest joy was spending time with his loving family. In addition to his loving and devoted wife Joyce, he is survived by his children Robin Willier (Steve), Romaine Keefer (Leon), Randy Matter, Susan Foster (Albert), Sandra Shade (Craig), and Sally Wiener (Andrew); grandchildren, Mandi Trawitz (Steve), Wendi Griffiths (Mike), Tony Willier (Brandy), Todd Willier (Sarae), Lydia Yeager, Catherine Gilliland (Jeffrey), Natalie Bellis (Brett), Jenna Troutman (Jason), Albert Foster III (Meghan), Morgan Foster, Cory Shade (Rachel), Sara Shaffer (Daniel), Lillian Wiener, and Madison Wiener; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Trawitz, Jeffrey, Gracie and Ella Griffiths, Isabella, Aryana, Simone and Archer Willier, Bryant and Nathan Gilliland, Landon and Bennett Troutman, Grady DeSoto, Tristan Bellis, Amelia and Eleanor Shade, and Leah and Anna Rae Shaffer. He also is survived by his sister Rita Glace (Paul). He was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Richard Matter. A private graveside service will held at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Cemetery, Berrysburg.
