DORNSIFE • Pauline Elva “Polly” Troutman, 87, died Dec. 4 at her residence. She was born April 26, 1932, in Klingerstown, a daughter of the late Charles and Daisy Maurer Snyder. She was a 1950 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School. Along with her husband, they began Troutman’s Feed and Grain, where she was the bookkeeper. They began Troutman’s French Fries, which evolved into Troutman’s Food Service. She was a charter member of the Idella Rebekah Lodge No. 58 and served as the first recording secretary. She was a noble grand in 1966-67 and served on numerous committees, held many appointed offices within the organization and received many honors. She was a 60-year member of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Herndon Senior Action Center. She was a member of Himmel’s Church and Sunday school. She served on the joint council, was a member and past treasurer of Himmel’s Church Women, and for many years was the head of the Kitchen Committee. She also served on the Washington Twp. Election Board and was instrumental in starting the Line Mountain Food Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Troutman; and a brother, Lamar Snyder. She is survived by six children: Patricia Kahler, Debra Hyde, Richard Troutman, Rahn Troutman, Bonita McDowell and Angela Troutman; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Dec. 10 at Himmel’s Church, Dornsife. The Rebekah Lodge also conducted its service. Burial followed in Himmel’s Cemetery.
