Nursing home data disclosed
Premier at Susquehanna Village, located outside Millersburg, was the only Sentinel-area facility to appear on the state Department of Health’s initial listing of nursing homes and long-term care facilities with confirmed COVID-19 cases. The list was issued this afternoon (May 19).
As of the state’s May 17 deadline, the facility reported 44 positives among residents and 16 among staff. The number of fatalities was marked as ‘‘redacted.’’ The DoH said any number between one and four would be ‘‘redacted.”
Information released by the DoH did not include total tests administered and ‘‘not a case’’ (aka negative) results.
Premier is one of four Dauphin County facilities included in the initial listing.
Country Meadows of Hershey had 47 resident positives, 16 staff positives and 10 deaths. Spring Creek Rehab and Nursing Center, also based in Hershey, had 169 resident positives, 21 staff and 14 deaths. Paxton Home and Benevolent Society, located in Harrisburg, shows 0 employee positives; resident positives and deaths were ‘‘redacted.’’
As reported in the Sentinel’s May 19 issue, the DoH will now make public the names and counties of facilities with some-level of COVID-19 related activity.
The newspaper will have a follow-up story in its May 26 print edition (Release date will be Wednesday, May 27, due to the Memorial Day holiday).
