NEWS UPDATE: Board grants conditional use for police station, range
The Washington Twp. Board of Supervisors, Feb. 18, voted (with one dissent) to grant a conditional use request for construction of a new station, with an accompanying outdoor shooting range, for the Pennsylvania State Police unit assigned to northern Dauphin County.
The motion to grant the usage included several conditions, including – but not limited to – measures intended to suppress noise from the range.
The vote followed a public comment period in which several citizens objected to the range’s presence due to public safety and noise concerns. Support for the range also was expressed.
A report on the meeting will be published in the Sentinel’s Feb. 25 print edition.
