At a joint meeting of the Millersburg and Upper Dauphin Area school boards March 15, a motion to proceed with a proposed merger of the two school districts failed by a combined vote of 7 (affirmative) to 11 (negative).
A two-thirds majority vote of the combined boards was necessary to forward the proposal to the state Department of Education for review. State approval would have been necessary as well for the merger to take effect.
Seven of the nine Millersburg directors voted ‘‘yes;’’ two voted ‘‘no;’’ All nine UDA directors voted ‘‘no.’’
More details will appear in The Sentinel’s March 23 print edition.
