HERSHEY • Michael Steven Swanger, II, 44, of Hershey and formerly of Millersburg, passed away Oct. 11, 2019, in the Hershey Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1975, in Lancaster. Michael was an EMT for 25 years as well as a business owner. He served as a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed collecting Matchbox cars and Civil War medicine. He also enjoyed fishing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football fan. He attended the Hershey Free Church. Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather, Deborah L. (Shoop) Hoffer and William Hoffer of Hershey; father and step-mother, Micheal S. Swanger and Kim Swanger of Elizabethville; maternal grandparents, Ira and Eva Shoop of Elizabethtown; brother, Shawn Swanger and his wife, Alicia of Mount Joy; stepbrothers, Daryl Hoffer of Spring Hill, Florida, and Mike Hoffer of Annville; stepsister, Erin Miller of Lykens as well as his beloved dog, Tinker. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, from 10:30-11 a.m. in the Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Rd., Hummelstown. A memorial service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Upper Dauphin Human Services Center, 517 Main St., Lykens, PA 17048.
