Marie Annie Elizabeth Farner

HALIFAX • Marie Annie Elizabeth Farner, age 92, of Mar-Bob Road, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at her home. She was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Mifflin Twp., the daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Miller) Radel. Marie was the widow of Robert Harry Farner Sr. (1994). She was a retired insurance broker. Marie was a member at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabethville, and former member of St. Peter’s “Fetterhoffs” Church, Halifax, where she was a former church secretary, council member, Sunday school teacher, superintendent and member of its ladies group. She was a charter member of the Millersburg ABWA and enjoyed spending time playing pinochle. Marie is survived by her children, Robert (Jennie) Farner Jr., Ronald R. (Linda) Farner, David B, (Sharyn) Farner and Sallianne M. Bechtel, all of Halifax; four foster children, James McElrath of Halifax, Gary McElrath of Florida, Charles Heiges of Florida, and Jeanne Heiges-Ashworth of Florida; two brothers, Harry W. Radel of Harrisburg and Richard (Sandra) Radel of Dillsburg; three sisters, Doris (Nicholas) Weber of York, Grace M. Wilson of Harrisburg and L. Caroline Radel (Richard Moon) of Wilmington, Del.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Farner, and great-grandson, Maxwell McGuire, and son-in-law, William Bechtel. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg PA 17110 or to Fisherville Volunteer Fire Co., 16 Church St., Halifax PA 17032. Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021, 9:30-11 a.m., at St. Peter’s “Fetterhoffs” Church. Services will start at 11 a.m. followed by burial at St. John’s Church Cemetery, Elizabethville.
