HALIFAX • Leon Thomas Mauser, age 88, of Sycamore Ave., passed away peacefully, June 9, 2021, at UPMC Osteopathic, Harrisburg. He was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Lykens, son of the late Thomas and Emma (Kinsinger) Mauser. When Leon was younger, he had worked the bootleg coal holes near Gratz. He had worked in the past for the meat packers, Bill Peters Inc., for four years, then he retired after 34 years of service with the former TRW Co., now Chromalloy Leon enjoyed fishing, tending his garden, swimming in his pool and caring for his flowerbeds and yard. He was a former Brother of the Bush for the Halifax 175 year anniversary. Surviving him, are his wife of 64 years, Loretta Elaine (Riegel) Mauser; two sons, David L. (Wendy J.) Mauser of Harrisburg and Darren J. (Lorie M.) Mauser of Halifax; a brother, Richard (Kay) Mauser of Lykens; a sister, Joann Roucher of York; and grandchildren, Aloni Mauser (Ethan Snyder), Darren Mauser Jr. (Rachel Umbrell), Jennifer Mauser, Elizabeth Mauser and his little buddy Dominick Umbrell. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Mauser, Shirley Knauber, Arlene Mauser, Betty Zimmerman, Anna Portzline and Mary Schoffstall.. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes Ltd, Elizabethville, with Pastor Ken Dagen officiating. Burial was at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.
