HALIFAX • Lee R. Sweigard, 79, of Halifax, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, April 23, 2021, after a long illness with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia. He was born July 11, 1941, at home in Halifax, Pa., the son of the late Raymond and Arla (Enders) Sweigard. Lee was a 1959 graduate of Halifax Area School. He was a dairy and crop farmer and a member of Matamoras Bible Church. He was always surrounded by his wife, Sandra (Gehring) Sweigard of 59 years; and one or more of his four children, Kevin (Debra Cutman) of Germantown, Md., Chris (Lori Lehman) of Halifax, Brenda Sweigard (companion Matt Krause) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Marc (Sherry Warner) of Carlisle; three granddaughters, Kristina, Courtney, Rylee; one grandson, Tyler, and one great-granddaughter Anya. He also is survived by a brother, Kenneth; two sisters, Elaine Deppen and Sally Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. As a dairy and crop farmer, he was awarded many plaques and trophies including Gratz Fair Tractor 9000 Farm Class, Future Farmers of America, Dauphin County Champion Hereford, Dauphin County Baby Beef, PA Farm Show Grand Champion, American Farmer Degree Award and numerous other farm awards. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved snowmobiling and traveling with his friends to Canada, Wyoming, and Utah. Many weekends were spent in western Pennsylvania with his cousin, George Sweigard, and his family where both families snowmobiled in the Johnstown mountains. He also enjoyed camping at Sunbury, Pa., where Lee and his family enjoyed jet skiing, water skiing and knee boarding. Lee was a soft spoken, conserved person and was always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed. A private burial service for the family will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Parkway, No. 110, Mechanicsburg PA 17050. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home Ltd., Millersburg, a Minnich Funeral location, is handling the arrangements. To sign the online guest book, go to min nichfuneral.com Paid by funeral home
