MILLERSBURG • Laura Mary Lennox, age 63, of Millersburg, Pa., passed away May 24, 2019, at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. She was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Dobb’s Ferry, N.Y., daughter of the late George Byrd and Ann (Quinn) Byrd. Laura was a retired secretary, after 20 years of service at Citigroup. She also worked part time at the American Red Cross. Laura was a history buff and enjoyed visiting museums and historical sites, such as the Gettysburg Battlefield. She was an avid fan of theater and film. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and other trinkets. Laura was a very well-read person, who enjoyed spending time at the library and was always ready to learn something new. Laura enjoyed stimulating conversation with anyone from any walk of life. Laura is survived by her three sisters: Linda Shomper of Millersburg, Leslie Byrd of Idaho and Lois Byrd of Idaho; a niece, Mary Shomper of Wilmington, N.C.; and several cousins. There will be a viewing Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg from 6-8 p.m. There will not be a formal service, but all friends of Laura are welcome to attend and share their memories of her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Laura’s honor to The American Red Cross, P.O. Box 5740, Harrisburg PA 17050-1711.
