URBAN • Lamar R. Matter, 87, of Urban, died Jan. 25, 2021, at the Nottingham Village, Northumberland. He was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Klingerstown, a son of the late Carrie and Ralph Matter. Lamar served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a truck driver for Weis Markets for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Urban, and Diamond Jubilee VFW Post No. 2385, Gratz. He is survived by his three daughters, Tammy Leiby, Shelly Straub and Cindy Geist; a grandson and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Leitzel-Matter; brothers, Marlin, Carl and Russell Matter; and sisters, Lorraine Gerhart, Kathryn Webber and Fern Miller. A funeral service was held Jan. 30, 2021, at St. Paul’s UCC, Urban. Interment was in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, Urban. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Diamond Jubilee Memorial, VFW Post No. 2385, 424 Specktown Rd., Lykens PA 17048. James A.
