VALLEY VIEW • Kenneth R. Erdman, 86, died March 30, at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.
He was born July 17, 1932, in Ashland, a son of the late William and Mabel Wolfgang Erdman.
He was a 1950 graduate of Hegins Twp. High. In high school, he was the starting catcher on the baseball team. The team went 55-2 over the course of three seasons.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He worked in the coal mines, at Penn Dye in Pine Grove, and TRW in Harrisburg.
He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hegins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Bixler Erdman; six brothers: Clair, Eugene, Guy, Jay, Leo and Ray; and two sisters, Helen Reinoehl and Tillie Rockwell.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Erdman of Tower City; a daughter, Dianne Strite of Reston, Va.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lila Derck of Dalmatia; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 5 at St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
