Kenneth "Ken" LeRoy Kahler

HALIFAX • Kenneth “Ken” LeRoy Kahler, age 80, of Halifax, died Nov. 27, 2019, at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg. He was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Rebuck, the son of the late Earl E. and Elva Kahler. Ken was married to Charlotte Deibler of Halifax. Ken was a longtime member of St. Peter (Fetterhoff’s) Lutheran Church in Halifax. He was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission and the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services. He was a retired service technician from Trane Company. He did a lot of volunteer work through his church and other organizations within the community, including Meals on Wheels and Lifeline Pregnancy Center. He was a board member of the Halifax Senior Center and also was the sexton of Spring Grove Cemetery at Fetterhoff’s Church. He was the coordinator of “God’s Precious Children,” which did missionary work in Liberia. Ken himself traveled to Liberia, as well as other places, on several missionary trips. He was a very active member of the community and touched many people throughout his life. In addition to his wife Charlotte, Ken is survived by his four children: Carole Dreibelbis, Karen Kahler, Dave Kahler and his wife Lan, and Tom Kahler and his wife Vilay; a stepson Jonathan Deibler and his wife Nissa; six grandchildren: Dwight (Jennifer), David Jr., Katherine, Michael, Emma and Ben; one great-grandson Kenny; two brothers Dale Kahler and Fred Kahler; a sister Betty Lou Erdman; numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Weaver Kahler; his son Kenneth Kahler Jr.; and his granddaughter Victoria. There will be a viewing Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 2019, at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg from 7-9 p.m. and also Wednesday, Dec, 4. 2019, from 10-11 a.m. at St. Peter (Fetterhoff’s) Lutheran Church. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 101 Erford Rd., Suite 201, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or the Alzheimer’s Association at 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
