HARRISBURG • Josephine (Jo) Marie Koppenhaver Bruner, 85, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 9, 2019, in her home at Ecumenical Retirement Community. She formerly lived in Linglestown, Pa. Born in northern Dauphin County Oct. 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Arlington and Jennie (Maurer) Koppenhaver. Prior to retirement, Jo worked in the restaurant industry for most of her adult life. She was not only a server, but also a banquet manager and administrative assistant, having been employed at Dave’s Dream, Colonial Cottage, Capital Restaurant, Jolly Fisherman and The Arches. An accomplished knitter, she created and donated many blankets to Project Linus for children in need. She was a longtime member of Linglestown Life United Methodist Church. Jo is survived by her brother Donald and wife Dorothy of Henderson, Nev.; son Robert Reisch and partner Thomas Lynes (children Stefan Weatherburn‑Ballard-Reisch and Alyssa Ballard‑Reisch); and three daughters: Sandra Lee and husband Ronald Estep (children Jenna Paukstis, Adam and Matthew Estep); Jane and husband Martin Stukenborg (children Nancy Bartley, Nathan, Andrew and Grace Stukenborg); Lara and husband John Balitchik (son Joshua Logan). She also is survived by eight great-grandchildren and was looking forward to the births of two additional greatgrandchildren in July. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Ecumenical Retirement Community for the wonderful kindness and care extended to our mother and all of us during her residency there. A celebration of Jo’s life was held Friday, March 15, 2019, at Linglestown Life United Methodist Church, 1430 N. Mountain Road, Linglestown, Pa. Burial was at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 St. Johns Rd., Elizabethville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linglestown Life. Arrangements are by Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Harrisburg. Online condolences may be left at hooverfuneralhome.com
