Josephine F. Bechtel

HALIFAX • Josephine F. Bechtel, age 93, of Fisherville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2019, surrounded by family. Josephine was born in Fisherville April 10, 1926, a daughter of the late Pierce and Mabel Holtzman. She was the widow of Clifford Bechtel and Leroy Hoffman. Josephine was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fisherville and a lifetime member of the Fisherville Fire Co. She was retired from the former Willit’s Shoe Factory. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially loved playing bingo and taking trips to the casino. Josephine is survived by her three sons, Gary Hoffman and his wife Johanna of Hershey, Randy Bechtel and his wife Peggy of Halifax, and Rick Bechtel and his wife Nancy, also of Halifax; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Frances Shadel of Boyertown. She was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Matter and a brother Robert Holtzman, Sr. There will be a viewing Wednesday, April 17, 2019, from 10-11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Fisherville. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Messiah Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Josephine’s honor to either Faith UMC at 1844 Armstrong Valley Rd., Halifax, PA 17032 or Fisherville Fire Co. at 16 Church St., Halifax, PA 17032 Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., in Elizabethville is handling the arrangements.
