ELIZABETHVILLE • John M. Chubb, age 87, passed away Dec. 10, 2020, at his home. He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Mifflin Twp., son of the late Oscar and Mabel (Lenker) Chubb. He was a graduate of the Lykens Valley Vocational School. John was a retired rail yard inspector for Bethlehem Steel, Steelton, and also had worked at Metal Industries. John was a member of Salem UCC where he served several times as a deacon and elder. He also served as vice president of the Consistory. He was a charter member of the Berrysburg Fire Co. and Reliance Hose Co., Elizabethville. Other memberships were with the American Legion No. 404, Maple Grove Cemetery Association and Steelworkers Union Local No. 1688. He was the widower of Nancy Buffington-Collier-Chubb. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Chubb; sisters, Emma Kissinger and Geraldine “Gerry” Koppenhaver; brothers, Charles and Oscar; and a granddaughter, Brianne Kosier. Survivors are his daughters, Suzanne Collier, wife of Richard Cowan, Patti Miller, wife of Michael, Sally Tobias, wife of Randy; and Pamela Kosier, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ella Kissinger; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation held at Salem UCC, Elizabethville, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, from 10 a.m.-noon. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Burial will be private at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Salem UCC, 143 W. Main St., Elizabethville, PA 17023.
