John K. Martz
HALIFAX • John K. Martz, 95, of Halifax, died Aug. 22, 2020, at home.
He was born June 18, 1925, in Wiconisco, Pa., the son of the late John Martz and Carrie (Cole) Martz.
John was married to Jacqueline (Blosser) Martz for 70 years.
He retired from the Camp Hill Prison as a corrections officer after 28 years.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 1943-1947 during World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5750, and a life member of the Dauphin County Fireman’s Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother Donald Martz of Herndon; granddaughter Jaclyn and her husband Jamie Stoneroad of Newport; two-step granddaughters, Jeannie Hall of Halifax and Lydia Miller of Iowa; great-grandchildren Raven, Sydney, Jaden and Ronan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter Lavonne Browning and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service was held Aug. 31 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home Ltd., Millersburg. Burial with military honors was at St. James Church Cemetery, Carsonville.
The family requests that memorial donations may be made to Armstrong Valley Bible Baptist Church, 2041 Armstrong Valley Rd., Halifax PA 17032.
