DILLSBURG • Joan (Miller) Naples, 87, of Dillsburg, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Daughter of the late Wilfred and Ruth (Morgan) Miller, she was born March 15, 1932, in Tower City. Joan was born and raised in Schuylkill County, graduating from the former Lykens High School (1950). She retired as a teacher and caregiver from Magic Years Day Care, Camp Hill. Saturdays were designated for Penn State football – no questions asked. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially Lexie, her Yorkie. In her free time, you could probably find Joan reading, coloring or working on a crossword puzzle. Surviving Joan are her daughters, Susan N. Nye (Scott) of Elizabethtown and Lisa M. Starner (Kevin) of Dillsburg; four grandchildren: Michael Bechtel, Brittany Nye, Nathan Starner and Hannahmarie Starner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Naples; and four sisters: Janice Black, Freda Kute, Dorothy Swartzlander and Joyce Miller. A funeral service was held Dec. 20 at Daybreak Church (Gettysburg Pike). Burial immediately followed in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry. In lieu of flowers, consider making a contribution in Joan’s name to either of the following: York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or PA Wounded Warriors, c/o Dr. Robert Hall, 161 Candlelite Dr., Carlisle, PA 17013. For more information or to send messages of condolence, visit parthemore.com
