MILLERSBURG • Jeremiah M. Bower Sr. entered the gates of Heaven Jan. 21, 2021, with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 10, 1963, the son of Leonard D. Bower and the late Florence M. Filer Bower, and his stepmother, the late Judith Bower. He grew up in the Halifax area, attended Halifax Area Schools and Dauphin County Vo-Tech. He graduated in June 1981 and joined the U.S. Army. Jerry was an employee from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he started as a mechanic and retired from the Department of Fleet Management as an automotive mechanic supervisor. Through the years, he made many friends across the state of Pennsylvania from traveling and teaching the mechanics. He was also an owner/operator truck driver, wreck driver for Kiner’s Auto Salon and drove truck for Metal Industries and Victory Leasing. Jerry also worked part time at Ames Department Store and really enjoyed his time as an auctioneer’s helper for Deibler & Shoop Auctioneers and Shane Liddick Auctioneer. Jerry enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved to hunt and fish, socialize with friends and family, and loved being one of Santa’s helper each year as he played Santa at various places during the last few years. He was a member of the Millersburg Gun Club, Fisherville Volunteer Fire Co., a former 4-H leader in Upper Dauphin County, former board member for several area little league organizations in Millersburg and member of the Watts Twp. Wesleyan Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Brenda Erdman; his children, Kyle (Ashley Shaffer) Bower of Millersburg, Brian (Ashlyn) Graeff of Hegins, Ashley Witmer of Elizabethville, Bobby (Loretta Van Hook) Bower of Dauphin, Casey Kerstetter of Millersburg, Jeremiah (Rochelle Reese) Bower of Halifax; grandchildren: Claire Bower, Elijah and Charleigh Graeff, Caileigh and Calder Witmer, Mackenzie Van Hook, MaKayla Kerstetter and Ava and Ally Aldinger; one sister Nancy Reed of Millersburg; one brother Dean (Sandra) Bower of Newport, one stepsister Laura Eberly of Coatsville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Reigles Bible Fellowship, Millersburg, from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Benjamin Brown officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in remembrance of Jerry to Millersburg Gun and Conversation Club, Upper Dauphin Livestock 4-H Club or Fisherville Fire Co.
