HALIFAX • Jay A. Koppenheffer, age 66, passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at his residence. Born in Carlisle, he was the son of the late William and Jeanne (Arrison) Koppenheffer. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Paulette (Erdman) Koppenheffer. After graduating from UDA in 1972, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Vancouver in the Vietnam war, where he met his lifelong friend Ernie. He owned and operated Koppy’s Arco and Koppy’s on the Square alongside his father from 1979 to 1987. He then became an auto technician for Faulkner’s of Harrisburg and worked there for 24 years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post No. 404. While in the service, Jay developed a passion for seeing the world, leading to a love for traveling that he passed along to his family while making sure to visit all 50 states with his wife. Jay enjoyed cooking and baking for his family along with hunting and fishing with his son and brothers-in-law. He could always be found watching his Chargers and Raiders games with a Yuengling premium in hand. Jay loved telling stories about his childhood, pets, family and friends, which is probably why he became such an avid reader. In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by son, Jeremy (Danielle) Koppenheffer, Elizabethville; daughter, Amber Koppenheffer (Stephen), Millersburg; grandsons, Braxton and Dereck and granddaughter, Violet; brother, William (Ellen) Koppenheffer, Lebanon, N.H.; sister, Debra (William) Stahl, Newville, Pa.; nephews, Kyle, Joel, Ben and Alex; and nieces, Mattea, Araminta and Angela. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area Inc. Services are private and at the family’s convenience. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., Elizabethville, is handling the arrangements. To sign the guestbook, go to minnichfun eral.com Paid by funeral home
