HERSHEY • Jan Wasser, 74, formerly of Pitman, died July 29. She was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Wilmington, Del., a daughter of the late Earl and JoAnn Scott Zener. She graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and worked as a registered nurse. She first worked at Grandview Hospital and then worked as a home and hospice care nurse and retired from Hershey Medical Center. She attended Hershey Free Church and led their Grief Share group. She was a former member of Grace Community Church, Herndon, and Zion EC Church, Pitman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Wasser; and a daughter, Donna Oettinger. She is survived by four children: Douglas Oettinger of Utah, Karen Leitzel of Herndon, Mark Oettinger of North Carolina, and Abby Rudy of Hershey; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Eileen Miller, Betsy Bitner and Lisa Denofa; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Aug. 2 at Hanoverdale Church, Hummelstown. Graveside committal was at Zion EC Cemetery, Pitman. Contributions may be made to support adult patient care at Penn State Milton S.
