LYKENS • James A. “Jim” Brauer, age 79, of Lykens, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Lykens, Pa., to the late James and Esther Roweth Brauer. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran and Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and a veteran of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. He retired from Reiff and Nestor Co. of Lykens; was a graduate of the former Lykens High School; a member of Williamstown American Legion; VFW; and Air Force Sergeant’s Association. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, going to casinos and spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susie Brauer; sons: James Brauer, John Brauer and Roger Brauer and fiancé Rachael Williard; daughters, Susan Fritz and husband Jeff and Diana Bechtel Hoffman and husband Clint; grandchildren: Deon, Alan, Ryen, Kera, Cody, Matthew, Morgan, Haley, Tanner and Klay; great-grandson, Lucas; and a brother, Thomas Brauer. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Sydney Fulmer Brauer; grandmother, Elizabeth Machamer Brauer; and aunt, Ruth Brauer. Graveside services will be held at a date to be announced at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
