DALMATIA • Irene V. Strader, age 93, of Dalmatia, passed away Feb. 20, 2019, at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital at 7:30 a.m. She was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Harrisonburg, Va. (Fulks Run, Va). She was the daughter of the late John Raleigh Carr and Zella A. Morris Carr. She is survived by her significant other David Brown; and her children: Joann R. Crawford Shrewsbury, Doris M. Thomas, Oscar Allen Crawford Jr. (Buddy), Donna D. Newman, Sandra L. Simpson, Wanda K. Boone, Richard G. Crawford and Patricia S. Strader Sitlinger. She also is survived by 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia E. Crawford; and siblings Russell H. Carr, James R. Carr, Leonard D. Carr, Verda Ruth Martin, Mildred Grace Crawford, Helen M. Hoffman, Kenneth (Petie) Eugene Carr, Pearl G. Schorr, Anna L. Michael and Hazel Jean Carr. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at David’s Church Cemetery in Killinger. There will also be a fellowship meal hosted by the family after the graveside service.
