As the Sentinel area ramps up to observe the 2020 Christmas season, more and more holiday events are being announced. Some events are being adapted to the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic. Others are continuing with the same basic format as before. As of Nov. 16, the newspaper is aware of the following events. In some cases, full details were not available at the time the paper went to press.

• The annual tree-lighting ceremony in Millersburg has been replaced by a drive-by event where children, staying in vehicles, will receive candy from Santa Claus. It will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27.

• Also that evening, Halifax will hold its traditional tree-lighting ceremony starting at 7 p.m. in Veterans’ Park.

• A children’s event is scheduled for Gratz Boro Park from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. Live music and an appearance from Santa Claus are among the scheduled activities.

• The annual children’s Christmas party, co-sponsored by the Millersburg Moose and American Legion/Auxiliary, will be a drive-thru event, held from noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 in the Legion parking lot. Santa Claus will wave to children as they pass by in vehicles.

Additional Christmas-themed events can be reported to the newspaper no later than 4 p.m. each Thursday. The email is news@sentinelnow.com
