Mt. Pleasant Mills • Geraldine L. “Gerry” Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant Mills entered into rest Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the Richfield Healthcare Rehabilitation Center in Richfield, Pa. She was born July 24, 1932, in Millersburg, Dauphin County, a daughter of the late Homer J. and Elva E. (Weaver) Lenker. April 9, 1955, Gerry married her precious husband, Stanley R. Shaffer. She was a 1950 graduate of Millersburg High School. Gerry retired from Kreamer Feed in Kreamer, Pa., where she was a team member of the office staff. She was a 65-year loyal member of Botschaft’s (Grubbs) Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant Mills. She taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and also served as the choir director. Gerry served as past president of the Lutheran Church Women. She was a life member of the Snyder County Historical Society, a member of the Fremont Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and the Middleburg Area Retired Citizens. Gerry enjoyed baking, gardening and the beauty of flowers. She is survived by her precious husband; a son, Lee J. Shaffer of McAlisterville; a daughter, Lori Haines and her husband Wayne of Penn Yan, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Stephanie Conover and her husband Jason of Keuka Park, N.Y., Nathan Haines of Penn Yan, N.Y., Brandon Shaffer of McAlisterville, Coy Shaffer of McAlisterville and Anna Shaffer of McAlisterville; two great-grandchildren: Ty and Wyatt Conover; two sisters, Anna Mae Linn of Carlisle and Jean Zeigler and her husband Homer of Lancaster. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; a son that was silently born in 1956; a daughter-in-law Crystal Shaffer (Aug. 10, 2018); and a brother-in-law John Linn. A walk-thru viewing will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, 1-2 p.m., at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills PA 17853, followed by a graveside service beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Botschaft’s (Grubb’s) Lutheran Church, 2148 Hoffer Rd., Mt. Pleasant Mills. The Rev. Michael Sigler will officiate. All CDC COVID-19 protocols will be practiced by wearing a mask and social distancing.
