MILLERSBURG • Geraldine “Betty” Long passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Kinkora Pythian Home in Duncannon, Pa. Prior to her time at Kinkora and two previous senior care homes, she lived her entire life in Matamoras on her beloved family farm. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred “Mip” Long, and her father, Cecil Long. Geraldine was never married, and had no children but is survived by her close cousin Doug Landis, Sr. and many cherished friends. She was a strong, independent woman who loved dogs and raised English Springer Spaniels and Beagles. She loved the outdoors and spent many happy days in the field with her dogs. She also was passionate about art and prolifically drew and painted flowers, landscapes, animals and her family dogs. After she retired from working at Bell Telephone in Harrisburg, she pursued an art degree at Harrisburg Area Community College and graduated with honors. Her many friendships were life-long and very dear to her. During this past year when so many seniors in nursing homes were unable to have visitors, she was cheered by the many cards and letters she received on a weekly basis. Geraldine was a country woman and was, and will be forever, a part of the farm and land where she was raised. There will be a viewing held at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes Ltd, Millersburg, Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, from noon-1 p.m. Burial will be at Long’s Cemetery, Halifax. Please sign the online register book at min nichfuneral.com Paid by funeral home
