George Richard Shearer

MILLERSBURG • George Richard Shearer, age 79, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. He was born April 14, 1941, in Trenton, N.J., the son of the late George Shearer and late Josephine Crum (Chubb). He retired from Johnson-Baillie Shoe Manufacturing, Millersburg. He attended Hebron United Methodist Church and the Assembly of God church, both of Millersburg. He is survived by a daughter, Chandra (Matt) Morgan of Halifax; grandchildren: Thomas (Sara), Denton and Kaden Morgan and Aeriel (Jeremy) Davis; great-grandchildren: Kian and Caelan Davis and Amelia Morgan. Also surviving are siblings: Dolly Lopez of Harrisburg, late Dennis Shearer of Halifax, Dave Albright of Millersburg, Sharity Hartzell of Newport, and Chennnedy Albright of Millersburg. George worked as a disc jockey for many years in the ’80s (Oldies But Goodies by Screaming George) and loved his music, especially Elvis. He also loved cars and was very particular with them. George was a loving, kind and compassionate father and grandfather. A memorial service to celebrate George’s life will be held Sunday, April 11, 3-6 p.m., at Fire & Ice Smokehouse & Creamery, 3417 Peters Mountain Rd., Halifax.
