ELIZABETHVILLE • Gene D. Klinger, 81, of Elizabethville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov, 18, 1938, in Valley View, he was a son of the late Leon and Elva Harner Klinger. Gene retired after 35 years with the former Johnson-Baillie Shoe Factory, Millersburg. He was a self-employed contractor most of his life. Following retirement, Gene enjoyed working as a greeter at Walmart, Elizabethville, where he made many friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, bowling and racing go-carts. He was also a member of the Harrisburg Builder’s Association and the Tri-Valley CB club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Shadle, and a brother, Leon Klinger Jr. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Jean M. Leffler Klinger; a daughter, Tammy Neiswender and her husband David of Gratz; a son, Michael Klinger and his wife Paula of Duncannon; three sisters, Dorothy Yeich of Mechanicsburg, Diane Mausser of Hegins and Rose Frantz of Erdman; two brothers, James Klinger of Harrisburg and Rodney Klinger of Sacramento; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11:30 a.m. from Sweitzers Cemetery, Berrysburg, with Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, c/o Activity Fund, 44 Donaldson Rd., Tremont PA 17981.
