Forrest "Tim" Lowery

HALIFAX • Forrest “Tim” Lowery, age 72, of Halifax, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Aug. 21, 2019, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 12, 1947, in Mechanicsburg, son of the late Clifford and Janette Lowery of Etters. Tim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat Wilt Lowery. Tim served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, including a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Tim was the superintendent of Lykens Valley Golf Course for 12 years. He later worked for the New Cumberland Army Depot, from where he eventually retired. After his retirement, Tim and Pat spent years traveling the country in their RV with their adorable dogs, Taffy and Trey. Tim enjoyed anything outdoors, including camping, hunting, fishing and trapping. In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by his son, Steven Lowery of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Terry (Lora) and Keith (Karen); four sisters: Judy (Ken), Candy (Dennis), Michelle (Jeff) and Kim. Tim was preceded in death by his son Shawn, who passed away in 1997. There will be a viewing Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at Halifax United Methodist Church from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Brendan Hock officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Halifax United Methodist Church, 105 Wind Hill Rd., Halifax, PA 17032, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or by visiting pancan.org Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd. in Millersburg is handling the arrangements.
