HARRISBURG • Florence M. Travitz, 85, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Travitz was born in Elizabethville and was the daughter of the late Homer and Verna Hoke. She was retired from the former Stateman Insurance Co., where she was a supervisor. She was a member of the former Lakeside Lutheran Church, the Garden Club of Harrisburg, Insurance Women of Harrisburg and volunteered with the Harrisburg Symphony. She enjoyed bowling, golf and classical music. Mrs. Travitz was predeceased by her husband, John R. Travitz, her sisters, Marie Smith and Pauline Jury, her brothers, Clair Hoke, Allen Hoke, Ralph Hoke, George Hoke and David Hoke. Mrs. Travitz is survived by her sister, Elma Harder of Harrisburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. Bishop Michael J. Scalzi will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
