ELIZABETHVILLE • Eugene “Gene” E. Spicher, age 74, of Elizabethville, passed away as a result of a tragic house fire at his residence Feb. 28, 2021. He was born Aug. 8, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pa., the son of the late Donald and Betty (Kissinger) Spicher. He is a graduate of Upper Dauphin Joint, Class of 1964. Gene was a veteran and had served in the U.S. Army and later in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had worked at the Farm Show Complex for many years. Gene was a member of The American Legion in Elizabethville and VFW Post No. 2385 in Gratz. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching baseball games and spending time with his beloved Farm Family. He is survived by three sisters, Tami Buffington of Elizabethville, Judy Deppen of Lititz, and Brenda (Louis) Dauberman of Wiconisco; nieces and nephews, Patti, Steph, Price, Jim, Ben, Matt, Brett and Nikka; and great-nieces and nephews, who loved and adored their Uncle Gene. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Buffington Sr., and nephew, Paul Buffington Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the Diamond Jubilee Post No. 2385 (Gratz VFW), 424 Specktown Rd., Lykens PA 17048. A memorial service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
