MUIR • Dora L. Wertz, 93, formerly of Muir, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born July 4, 1927, in Muir, she was a daughter of the late Garvin and Mary Romberger Bixler. Dora retired as a seamstress after working in numerous factories including Bestok and Mansonwear. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Orwin. Dora spent her entire life caring for others; she will be remembered as one of the kindest, sweetest and most gentle women. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Her love and pride for her family was evident to anyone she came in contact with. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Theodore “Tom” Wertz, 2009. Dora was the youngest of 13 siblings, who all predeceased her. Surviving are her three children, Dr. Philip Wertz (PhD) and his wife Nancy of Iowa; Debbie Westle and her husband Rob of Philadelphia and Dr. James Wertz (DO) and his wife Carol of Bethlehem; her seven grandchildren, Henry and Jocelyn Wertz; Jessica and Lydia Westle; Andrew, Kathryn and Nicholas Wertz; three great-grandchildren, Indigo, Calla and Milo; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. from the Methodist Cemetery, Muir, with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dora’s name should be made to St. Peter’s UCC, 427 Dietrich Ave., Orwin PA 17980. The Dimon Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Tower City. has been entrusted with the arrangements. To send online condolences to the family, visit dimonfuneral home.com Paid by funeral home
