Elizabethville • David LeMar Shadle, age 72, of Elizabethville, Pa., died May 6, 2021, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pa., the son of the late Ralph E. Shadle and Romaine I. Shadle (Enders). David was married to LuAnn (Hepner) Shadle and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this August. He retired as a warehouse inventory clerk from XpedX International Paper Co. David enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves from 1967- 1973 and the U.S. Army National Guard 1979-1980. David coached basketball at Upper Dauphin Area School District for 29 years. He spent two years as an assistant coach for girls’ basketball at Susquehanna University. David belonged to American Legion Post 404, where he served as commander and adjutant. David was a past president of the Home Association and club manager. He also held the position of commander for Dauphin County. David was a life member of Reliance Hose Co. No. 1 of Elizabethville. David served as past president of both Elizabethville Little League and UDA Legion Baseball Executive Board. He was co-chairman of the Elizabethville Bicentennial Celebration. David played in the Williamstown Military Band and Liberty Hose Co. Band. David enjoyed watching “his” Yankees, Nascar and anything Penn State. He especially loved watching Upper Dauphin girls’ basketball, always sitting in the front-row bleacher. Surviving are his wife, LuAnn Shadle (Hepner) of Elizabethville; son Aaron (Heidi) of Halifax; daughter-in-law Jennifer Shadle of Idaho; grandchildren, Savannah and Christian Shadle and Elijah Stoneroad. There will be a visitation held at Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville, Thursday, May 13 from noon-2 p.m. Services will start at 2 p.m. Burial to follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery.
