MILLERSBURG • David E. Mattis, age 86, passed away April 15, 2019, at Premier at Susquehanna Village. He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Washington Twp., a son of the late Blair and Clara (Byerly) Mattis. He was the widower of Nancy (Hoffner) Mattis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired mechanic with more than 40 years of employment with the Swab Wagon Co., Elizabethville. He was a member of the John Lloyd Post 404 American Legion. David enjoyed working on automobiles. He is survived by a son, Richard B. Mattis, Elizabethville; and sister, Ella Jane Wemstock, Florida. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard B. Mattis II; four brothers: William, Bright, Charles and Pete; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Fulkroad) Mattis. Graveside services were held April 18 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., Elizabethville, handled the arrangements.
