BERRYSBURG • Charles Earl Gallagher, age 70, passed away Nov. 29, 2019, in Clearwater, Fla. He was the son of the late Martin and Margaret Gallagher. He graduated from Upper Dauphin Area High School, class of 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Saratoga and then the newly commissioned USS John F. Kennedy. He was honorably discharged and upon returning home, he enlisted in the Air Force serving with the PA Air Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap with the 211th EIS Unit. He retired with 44 years of military services to his country. He also retired from PP&L as a lineman with 43 years of service. He served on the Berrysburg Borough Council for 18 years and was a lifetime member of the Berrysburg Fire Co. He coached the Millersburg Little Indians and the Lykens Little Tigers football teams. He was an avid Penn State Football fan. He had memberships with the Masonic Ashler Lodge No. 560 of Lykens and Millersburg Tall Cedar, Forest 125, where he served as a Grand Tall Cedar in 1988. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George “Butch” and Bruce. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna (Phillips) Gallagher; his son, Charles “Chuck” Jr. of Elizabethville; daughter, Deborah (David) Jenkins, Ga.; sister, Barbara Hartman and Leo of Millersburg; two sisters-in-law, Diane Gallagher, Bloomsburg and Joann Adkins, Duncannon; stepmother-in-law, Sandy Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews; and his two best buddies, Otis and Misty. Masonic services were held Dec. 9. Burial with military honors was held Dec. 10 at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
