KLINGERSTOWN • Charles Albert “Junior” Schaeffer, 83, died July 23. He was born March 14, 1936, in Butler Twp., a son of the late Charles and Edna Haas Schaeffer. He was a graduate of Hegins Twp. High School. He worked as a farmer for 58 years at Schaeffer Farms. He served as the FFA president during high school and won the State Tractor Driving and Plowing Contests. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Pitman. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Martha Deitrich, Ethel Mae Furman and Irene Snyder. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Schaeffer and Richard Schaeffer, both of Klingerstown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held July 26 at St. James Lutheran Church, Pitman. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
